The Journey Begins

From frigid cold Canada to hot and sunny Tauranga, New Zealand.  New Zealand is 19 hours ahead of central time, or more simply, 5 hours back a day ahead for all my Manitoban people.  My flights were great and had no issues, aside from the power outages in Vancouver airport, having to check my carry on as baggage in Vancouver because it was (way) over weight (oops :p)  and having to haul three suitcases into a transit bus to make it to my connection on time.  Thankfully I was kindly assisted by other travellers upon their notice of my struggle. lol.

Once I arrived on Tuesday I was picked up by my Uncle, and settled into his home in Tauranga.  I relaxed, tanned and walked the ocean beach.  This country is absolutely breathtaking.

On Wednesday (January 23), we went to Rotorua.  It is a very neat, and awfully smelling city.  I saw the mud pools, which is essentially boiling puddles of mud in the middle of a grassy park. They are tons of them.  Then I went to the Agrodome where I saw about 20 different kinds of sheep, and watched sheep sheering.  Theres a lot of stuff to do around here, but it is all super expensive.

The next few days will be pretty relaxed.  I am loving being out here, but I am missing all my friends and family. I'm really excited to start school and make some new friends next week.  My address at school is

Monavale Bible School
P.O. Box 702
Cambridge 3450
NEW ZEALAND

Phone: +64 7 823 1800
Fax: +64 7 823 1809

I'm going to try to update this once or so a week if I can.  I have good internet this week, but once I start school, it will be more sparse.

Thanks for all the support and prayers of my friends and family.  God blessed me with good safe travels and I am definitely feeling His presence as I miss home. He is faithful :)

God Bless,

Katelyn
